Bento #7 - Spec-ky Boy

This reminds me of Oswald =) My eldest boy is my spec-ky boy.

Like the previous bento, I'd made used of bread ends to make the spectacles and the boy's mouth. As for his hair, I'd applied some butter on the bread surface and sprinkle pork floss over it.

Of late, Oswald had been telling me not to pack food for him. His reason being he find the canteen too noisy and prefer to head to a more quiet place i.e. the library. Hmm ... seriously, I do not know if I should be happy or be upset over this. My reason for packing food is to let him mingle with his classmates during recess time.

I think is a good thing that he likes to spend time at the library. But I also feel that knowing his other classmates, other than those who are sitting around him, would also do him good. The only way to do that is to 'force' him to stay in the canteen and hence bento comes in good use. Though many times he told me not to pack food for him, he always comes home with an empty box.

How how how? What should I do? Give him to him and stop packing food? Or insist my way ... MUMMY's RULES!!!

Bento #6 - Doggie ... Woof Woof

Another 'square' idea and making use of bread ends this time. Really making full use of the loaf of bread =p Made dog's ears and eyes using bread ends. Added a piece of ham for the patch on the dog's face. Facial expression punchers were use on nori to punch out facial expression for the dog.

These days I had started to plan ahead for my bentos. Drawing out what I had in mind on hubby's Samsung Note 10.1. Listing out what is to be used and how to arrange it in the box. This makes my life much easier when it is time to put together the box and of course ingredients shopping.

Bento #5 - Cookie 'Style'

Hokay ... I admit ... I suck at naming!!!

Had a really hard time thinking of a name for today's bento. Cookie Boy ... Cookie Face ... Cookie Face Boy ... etc. Can't seem to stay away from the word COOKIE because the highlight of the bento is using Oreo cookie for the hair.

I love square shape. Square = minimal wastage =)

Bento #4 - Square Face Bear

Its FRIDAY ... its FRIDAY and I am loving it!!!

Decided to go on minimal wastage mode hence the SQUARE face bear ... hehe. I used 2 different types of bread to show the contrast.

A really simple but cute bento for the boys today. And I finally bought my nori and hence the nice punch out facial expressions. Can't imagine having to create the bear's expression using other means.

TGIF!!! Time to rest, relax and recharge ^_^

Bento #3 - Fuzzy Wuzzy Caterpillar

We are into week 2!!!

Had some hotdog buns around and hence decided to let the boys have it instead of their regular bread.

This idea is picked up from one of the bento books I have.

I called it the Fuzzy Wuzzy Caterpillar. Caterpillar always reminds me of a song that my boys learn to sing at kindergarden. But after so many years, the full and proper lyrics of the song never reach me. Both boys could never remember how to sing the song properly. LOL.

How is it done:-
1) Slice off the ends of the hot dog buns to get a 'flat' surface at the ends.
2) Cut the buns into 4 pieces. 3 of the same size - for the body, 1 slightly bigger - for the head.
3) Half the body pieces but do not cut through the bread. Fill up with your preferred filling (I used only nutella).
4) Make 2 similar cuts in step 3 for the head piece. Fill up with your favorite spread or you can leave it plain.
5) I use bento picks for the feelers and cut outs of bread crust for the facial expressions.

Drama - 绅士的品格 (A Gentleman’s Dignity)

How can I not like this drama!!! So many nice songs in it ... and not to mention that it has a nice story. ^_^

Bento #2 - Zonked Out Rabbits

It is only end of week 1 and I cannot believe I am almost drained out (physically and mentally). Was really cracking my brains when I was preparing the Owein's bento last night. Luckily only need to prepare for Owein.

Why not Oswald?? That is because that boy had went to booked for computer usage at the library during recess. He had never been that excited to bring a box to school. Reason being ... he will have lesser time to go library if he got to sit in the canteen to eat. DUH!!! Oh well, that's him. I wander how much longer I can 'force' him to bring a box to school ... hehe ... we shall see :)

As for Owein, I was really zonked out last night and I think because of that, my bento also looked kinda 'zonked' out too.

2 zonked rabbits!!! Ran out of nori and I did not know about it. I ended up using food markers to draw the rabbit's expression. Hence, the rabbits had such hilarious expressions.

Anyway, TGIF!!! Relax, Recharge!!!

FIGHTING!!!

Bento #1 - Back To School

Back to school 2013, Term 1.

After a short week of 3 days at school last week, everything is in full force this week. Official start of Week 1, Term 1.

Both boys are happy to be back at school and so is mummy. Finally some peaceful times in the house. But on the other hand, mummy also got to start cracking brain for our weekly bentos.

To start off, I just did something very simple for the boys. Mainly using picks and silicon barans to brighten up the box.
